Digital Transformation: A Win-Win for Social Care

The Digital Care Hub urges the government to enhance digital technology and data sharing in social care, emphasising its potential to improve lives and reduce system pressures. Their manifesto outlines five key areas: centring innovations on people, strengthening digital infrastructure, supporting safe data sharing, reinforcing cyber security, and developing digital skills in the workforce. Funding Crisis

Funding Crisis: Councils Face £6.2bn Social Care Shortfall

The Local Government Association (LGA) warns that English councils will face a £6.2bn funding gap for social care over the next two years. The LGA urges political parties to commit to significant and sustained funding increases ahead of the general election. Rising costs in both adult and children's social care are driving the shortfall, with a projected £10bn increase by 2026-27. The LGA calls for multi-year funding settlements, investment in prevention, and higher care worker pay to address recruitment and retention issues.
