TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS
The UK government’s renewed focus on AI adoption across public services marks a pivotal moment for local authorities. Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s call for bold, ambitious approaches to AI sets the stage for transformation in critical areas like Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
EHCPs are vital for ensuring children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) get the tailored support they need to thrive.
In 2024 alone, councils drafted over 84,000 EHCPs, while costs and demands continued to rise. The system is stretched—and families are feeling the strain.
That’s where AI can step in.
Our latest report, From Backlogs to Brilliance: How AI is Redefining EHCP Creation, explores how AI is tackling these challenges head-on. Tools like Agilisys Transform's EHCP tool are revolutionizing the process by automating administrative tasks, improving the personalisation of plans, and delivering more consistent results across regions. These innovations save time and money while allowing SEND caseworkers to focus on what matters most: supporting children and their families.
By acting now, local authorities can align with the government’s AI agenda and make a real difference for children with SEND.
AI IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY
The UK government has unveiled the AI Opportunities Action Plan to boost AI's role in economic growth, public services, and innovation. Key initiatives include investing in infrastructure, forming a National Data Library, and ensuring ethical AI use while strengthening national AI development. Safety and ethical guidelines are emphasised.

Governments face a challenge: turning data into actionable insights that improve public services. Too often, there’s a gap between data analysis and its application. Miles Smith, founder of SimpleCause, believes bridging this gap is key. His approach, aligned with Agilisys Transform’s Generative AI-powered EHCP Plus, demonstrates how innovation can empower public sector teams.
Humanising Data for Public Services
💭Static dashboards and dense reports don’t engage users. Smith advocates for intuitive tools and visual insights that empower decision-makers and service teams.
👉 Example: Generative AI transforms complex data on overdue Adult Social Care reviews into clear, visualised priorities for caseworkers. It highlights individuals needing urgent support and suggests next steps, enabling staff to focus their efforts effectively.
“Smith’s approach resonates with our work at Agilisys Transform. Data should drive better public services. By humanising insights, focusing on strategic outcomes, and leveraging tools like QuickAction, councils can deliver meaningful results for their communities.”
Empowering Teams with AI
💭Budget constraints and outdated systems can limit public sector innovation. Generative AI offers a cost-effective solution to automate repetitive tasks.
👉 Example: QuickAction automates the summarisation of complex case histories, freeing up staff time. Instead of manually compiling notes for care planning meetings, workers can focus on engaging directly with clients and families.
ADULT CARE INVESTMENT
Over £1 million in care funding has been allocated to Hertfordshire, targeting the reduction of hospital pressures through support for the elderly and disabled. Watford's MP, Matt Turmaine, stresses that this strategic investment will alleviate NHS strains and realise Labour's commitments, enhancing independent living through essential modifications and workforce support.
SOCIAL CARE SECTOR
The Chair of Lincolnshire Care Association backs a crucial report calling for urgent government intervention in social care, highlighting pressing issues such as cost pressures, workforce shortages, and funding instability. With reforms delayed by three years, industry leaders, including Melanie Weatherley, demand immediate investment to stabilise and support the vital sector.
Hello, my name is Eshe, and I currently work as an Adult Social Care Advisor for Agilisys Transform. With 8 years of experience as a practicing Social Worker and Manager, I have worked across Mental and Physical Disability Teams, focusing on empowering vulnerable adults to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life. Joining Agilisys has allowed me to align my passion for direct work with people with an innovative vision for the future of social care. By integrating AI into Adult Social Care, I believe we can enhance efficiency and give Social Care Workers more time to make meaningful connections and deliver impactful support. I’m excited to be part of this journey and to help shape a more connected and compassionate future for social care.
Like many in the profession, I entered with passion and a sense of purpose, believing I could overcome the challenges of burnout often associated with this work. However, over time, the high caseloads and constant paperwork began to take their toll. My days started to feel robotic, leaving little time to interact with residents and build the meaningful relationships that initially inspired me to join the field. There were moments when I dreaded logging into my laptop, fearing what challenges the day might bring. This strain began to impact my desire to work and left me concerned about the quality of support I could provide.
Despite my apprehensions about leaving the profession I had known for years, I began to explore new opportunities. When I came across a job advert for Agilisys, I was immediately drawn to their vision. Initially, I doubted whether I could transition into the “tech world,” but as I researched their mission, I became excited by their plans to integrate AI into social care.
I genuinely believe this approach can transform the profession and prevent the loss of many valuable social care workers. By reducing the administrative burdens that overwhelm social care workers, tools like these will allow workers to focus on building relationships and engaging with residents. This innovation has the potential to address burnout and help retain the skilled professionals that the sector desperately needs.
Joining Agilisys has been a transformative experience. Follow along as I share more insights into how technology and AI can help transform social care and provide better to services we support.
SOCIAL CARE CHALLENGES
Social care reform demands urgency as providers face untenable pressures. Workforce deficits, financial volatility, and policy inaction jeopardise sector sustainability. Hft and Care England call for swift governmental intervention to prevent further provider exits, risking societal care gaps. The government's funding promises fall short amid continued criticism of indecisive stances.
SOCIAL CARE REFORM
A £610,249 funding boost has been allocated to enhance adult social care in Wycombe, focusing on home-based support, NHS-social care integration, and advanced care technology. These initiatives are designed to alleviate NHS strain and promote career progression for care workers, aligning with strategic priorities to modernise and fortify the care sector.
